Psychotic SKIU Serial Page 6
Larry laughed in defeat. “You aggravating pain in the ass, beautiful, irresistible... Guess I have nothing left to lose then.” He grabbed her pulling flush to his body and kissed her with all the repressed passion he felt for her.
Feeling her arms wrap themselves around his neck, he groaned in need when she leaned up on her toes to get closer. He let his hands roam down her back, undid her skirt and let it fall to the floor, then lifted her off the floor so she could wrap those long legs of hers around his waist.
Amy leaned back to catch her breath. Awed, she ran her fingers over his face possessively. Larry took advantage of her distraction to tear her blouse open not wanting to take the time with the buttons and letting it join her skirt on the floor. Tightening his grip on her ass, he firmed his hold on her. Leaning forward he rained kisses over her chest, gently nipping her nipple through the lace of her bra.
“Where’s the bedroom, Amy?”
“Down the hall, to the left,” she gasped breathless. He grinned when he felt cool air hit his chest as his own shirt landed on the floor to tangle with her clothing. Her desperate fingers roaming over his shoulder and back, he reveled over the feel of her hands on his now bare chest. His conscious came forward with a vengeance. She had just been through a traumatic experience, he had to give the option to pull out.
“Last chance Amy. If you don’t want to do this, say so now. I don’t think I’ll survive your regret in the morning.”
Her seductive smile shot his desire up another notch. “Make love to me Ry.”
Larry gave her a predatory grin. “Mine!” He growled capturing her lips in a heated kiss, distracting her until he reached her bedroom. Holding her tighter in his arms, he placed a knee on the bed and crawled slowly up its length to the headboard. Laying her head on the pillow, he gently rested his weight on her, laying kisses over every inch of exposed flesh he could reach without letting her go, delighted with the feel of her lips returning the favor. Maybe he had a chance after all.
Her hands roamed down his chest to the waist of his pants. “You need to remove these Ry, they’re in the way and I want to touch you.”
“Amy honey, I give you full permission to do to me anything your heart desires,” he whispered thinking he’d died and gone to heaven.
“Anything?”
Larry groaned in pleasure as Amy unzipped his pants, reached in and pulled out his very aroused member.
“Amy —”
“Shhh Detective, just love me tonight. We can talk tomorrow.”
A quick tug relieved her of her underwear, and the very convenient front clasp on her bra freed her full breasts for his enjoyment. To his relief Amy happily relieved him of his pants and boxers while he entertained himself by licking and nibbling every part of her body that came into view. He planned to make her scream and beg for release until they were both completely sated and unable to move.

Amy woke to feelings of contentment suffusing her body. She realized that she felt more satisfied than she’d ever felt and it was all due to Ry’s healing touch. “Morning Ry.”
She reached over to where he had last been and felt nothing. The bed was cold and empty beside her. He’d been gone for at least an hour. Feeling anxious she got up and went in search of him praying she hadn’t made a foolish mistake.
Finding no note or any sign that he had even been there the night before, she felt hurt and betrayal wash over her. Her heart broke when she realized he’d used her. Getting dressed she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt before jumping to conclusions.
Amy drove to the station her entire body a bundle of nerves. If Ry wasn’t there she didn’t know what she was going to do, but no one would like the results. Including her.
“Hey Hank, is Ry here?”
“Hey there Doc, you’re in early this morning? Is everything ok?”
“Ry, Hank, have you seen him today? Is he here?”
“I’m not sure Doc. I know he’s not at home. I was hoping he was with you.”
Amy snorted in disgust. “Sorry to disappoint you but Ry definitely wasn’t with me this morning.”
“Well then I’m at a loss.”
A note of uncertainty entered her voice. It was one thing to think he’d betrayed her; it was another to ask for proof. “Could he be with his girlfriend?” She dreaded asking that question but her insecurities wouldn’t let her leave it be.
“Melissa? He wouldn’t go there Doc, he broke up…” He must have sensed how serious the situation was. “Let me try him there.”
Please don’t be there, please don’t be there, please don’t be there,
she chanted, pacing back and forth wringing her hands, a bad feeling forming in the pit of her stomach. She couldn’t help hoping she was wrong and that some emergency had come up forcing him to leave her bed that morning. “There you are.” Amy heard as Hank started talking over the intercom. Her heart sank at the implications.
“Are you coming in soon? The Americans will be here any minute now.”
“Hank? I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“I’m surprised you’re there, I mean—”
Amy sat impatiently waiting for Hank to finish the call and put her out of her misery.
“Hank, why did you think of calling here for me?”
“I didn’t. The doc suggested you might be there.”
“Amy? Hank don’t tell her you found me here.” Amy listened to Ry’s voice over the speakerphone, her heart falling into shoes.
Hank looked over at her sadly. “She already knows partner.”
Amy got to her feet and slipped out of the office while Hank was too busy to stop her. She didn’t want anyone to see her cry.
“Damn, damn, damn, damn. Do not let her out of your sight until I get there and explain.”
“Too late partner. The doc’s gone.”
Amy felt used and betrayed. Ry spent most of the evening with her, then once he’d gotten what he wanted, he simply waited for her to fall asleep and snuck out. Going back to his girlfriend letting her know exactly where she stood with him. She couldn’t go though this again; she knew she wouldn’t survive it. She wasn’t strong enough.
“Captain? Do you have a minute?”
“Of course Doctor. How can I help you?”
Amy hesitated. She was about to do the one things she counseled her patient never to do. If she went through with this, she’d be running away from her problems. “I’d like to give you this. It’s my resignation. Once this case is over I won’t be available to work for the police department any longer.”
“Now doctor, don’t act rashly. I understand that you had a frightening experience—”
Amy smiled truly touched by his concern. “No Captain. The experience last night had nothing to do with my decision. I’m just ready to move on; I thought I’d try my hand at teaching.”
“But—”
Guilt flooded through her at the lie. “Of course I’d make myself accessible to the police if they ever truly needed my talents.”
“Doctor, you are an invaluable member of my team. But… I will respect your wishes. I will hand in your request after this case is over. Mind you, if you change your mind at any time you may have this back.”
“Thank you Captain, but I don’t see myself changing my mind.”
“Well the option is there if you wish it.”
“Yes Captain. Please tell the detectives that I’ll be at home if they should need me. I have a future to plan after all.”

“Are they here yet?” This was the last place Larry wanted to be. He needed to find Amy and explain. He truly thought he could get to Melissa’s and back before she woke up that morning.
“Special agent Thomas is here, but his partner isn’t. Ry I’ve got some bad news.”
“What news?” Larry felt his heart stop with worry at Hank’s hang dog look.
“The doc… Well she—”
Panic seized him, he couldn’t lose her,
not now. “Is Amy alright? What’s wrong? Where is she?”
“She’s fine…physically that is. Ry… partner… she quit.”
“Quit? She can’t quit! I need…we have no case without her.” Larry did not like the look Hank was giving him.
“She’ll still work the case, but after it’s over she’s gone and when Amy decides to leave no one can find her until she’s ready to be found. What the hell did you…” When Hank stopped yelling at him mid sentence Larry looked up. “Agent Thomas I’d like you to meet my Partner Detective Stevens.”
“Nice to meet you Stevens. Thank you for finally joining us. Now shall we go meet Agent Schwartz and the lady doctor?”
Larry scowled. “Hank, tell me Agent Schwartz is a woman.”
“No Ry he’s not. Actually there’s more bad news, he’s also—”
“Waiting for us to join him! Detectives?”
“Then by all means let’s go; we don’t want to keep him waiting.” Larry was not impressed with this guy’s attitude. I don’t want this Schwartz character alone with my Amy any longer than necessary. Reaching the car Larry looked at Hank for an ounce of hope. “At least tell me he’s old and fat.”
Hank laughed at him, solidifying his dread. “‘Fraid not Partner.”
“Damn.”

“How are you really Amy?”
Amy wasn’t ready for this conversation or the man trying to have it. “Oh Marcus, I’m fine really. Detective Stevens and Hank got there with more than enough time to spare.”
“Detective Stevens and Hank?” Amy frowned when Marcus laughed at her. “Why are you angry with Detective Stevens sweetheart?”
Damn all men who think they know everything,
she thought brushing his question aside. “It’s not important. Now answer my question. Why did they send you?” “Not just me. Jean came along too. I think he misses you just as much as I do.”
Amy sidestepped his arms when he tried to hold her. “I don’t want to get into that again Marcus. You know very well that short term we were great, fantastic even. But long term—”
“You can’t deny we have amazing chemistry in bed Amy.”
Amy sighed when she realized he wasn’t going to let it go. “I don’t deny it, nor do I argue it. But our problem, Marcus, was and is that you’re too passionate. I was never enough for you. No, that’s not true either, is it? I was enough for you, but I bored you. You needed the variety of other women to keep things exciting.”
Marcus did what he always did when she reminded him of his past transgressions. He sulked! “I’ve apologized for that, more than once. Can’t you forgive me?”
She wanted to offer him comfort, but knew from experience that any touch would lead her down a path she wasn’t ready to go. So she stepped further away. “Forgive yes, trust no. I’m sorry Marcus but every time you stayed out all night on a case I’d wonder. Did he get bored again? Who is she? What does she have that I don’t?”
“I won’t stray again. I swear it sweetheart. Just give me another chance.”
Amy felt the pain of his betrayals bloom in her chest again. Why couldn’t he just let things be? “It’s been a year since we separated Marcus. How many women have there been since I left? And be honest.”
She saw the wince at her words. “There have been a few but surely—”
“Don’t tell me you’re asking me how many men I’ve had?” She was shocked at his audacity.
“You can’t tell me you’ve been alone all this time!”
Amy shut her eyes on the pain he inflicted by making her remember. “There was someone but it turns out it wasn’t serious.”
“It was to you. You forget I know you Amy. You take these things very seriously.”
She felt him cup her cheek and shivered at his touch. She didn’t want to be touched by anyone right now. “Well, people change. Just sign the papers Marcus. We’ll both be happier in the long run.”
“Is that really what you want?”
Amy wanted to say no. Tell him she forgave him. That they could try again. But she knew Marcus and the fact that she’d fallen in love with another told her they were doomed before they started. She couldn’t handle another broken heart when their marriage failed a second time. “We make better friends than lovers or husband and wife. So yes, Marcus, that is what I really want.”
“Then I’ll sign them before I leave.”
Relief flooded through her. “Thanks I need to finish changing before—”
“Go. I’ll get the door. You get in there and change out of that extremely sexy workout suit. I can’t believe you still do aerobics when you’re pissed off and I missed it.”
Amanda laughed. “Just get the door and stop trying to flatter me will you.”
“Yes dear.”
“Don’t start.” Amy knew he wouldn’t stop. Marcus loved to pick on her. It’s what had attracted them to each other in the first place.

“Thomas, good, you’re here, but you really should have waited another five minutes.”
“Why? So Amy could give you the royal thrashing you deserve?”
Marcus grinned flashing a set of perfect white teeth that made Larry’s stomach knot with jealousy.
“Maybe, she’s certainly entitled to. Introduce me to the detectives please.”
“Agent Schwartz let me introduce you to Detective Hank Adams and Detective Larry Stevens.”
“It’s nice to meet you both. Amy should be right out. She was just changing into something more appropriate for guests.”
“Amy doesn’t usually allow strangers into her home. Let alone call her by her first name.” He could hear the thick jealousy in his own voice so he knew the others were more than aware of it.
“True Detective Stevens, but I’m not exactly a stranger.”
“Then what are you?” Larry asked, his eyes narrowing at the man in suspicious anger.
“He’s my husband!”
Nothing could have shocked Larry more than that pointed statement. He instinctively turned towards the woman in question in shock. “Husband?”
“Soon to be ex-husband actually.”
“They don’t need to know those things Marcus. We should get my statement down. I have plans this afternoon.”
“Detectives, I was hoping to get a look at the cabin while the sun is still up. Can we leave Amy’s statement until later? I can get it from her when I get home tonight.”
Larry hated the man on sight. No way was he letting him near his Amy at night. “I’ll take her statement. Hank, you take the agents to the cabin. I’ll meet you there as soon as I’m done here. If no one objects?”
“I—”
He knew Amy would try to object, so her cut her off. “Good. We shouldn’t be more than an hour.”
“Detective Stevens, if you don’t mind I’d rather—”
“But I do mind.” He expected her to argue more. So his easy win left him feeling unsettled. He knew he was in serious trouble and it would take him some fancy footwork to get out of it.
“Suit yourself. I’ll be in the kitchen. I’m feeling famished after my earlier workout.”
“I’m sure you are,” he grumbled waiting for the men to leave so he could follow her and get some answers.
Chapter 6
“Tell me Detective Adams, how long have Amy and Detective Stevens been involved?”
Hank had been dreading this question since they’d left the doc’s house. He pasted a serious expression on his face before answering. “They’re only friends as far as I know. Why do you ask?”
“He seemed awfully jealous for someone not involved.”
“He was just a little shocked to hear that the doc was still married. You should have let me warn him.” Hank was still angry at the deception they forced him into by keeping the secret.
“It’s more than that. Amy was also acting strangely. She was angry with Stevens.”
Hank laughed. “That’s putting it mildly. She’
s been completely pissed with him for two days.”
“Why?”
Hank grinned as he turned the table on them. “That, Agent Schwartz, is between them. If you want those answers, you’ll have to ask either the doc or Stevens.”
“Maybe I will. Seeing as I am still legally her husband, I have a right to know these things.”
***
“Why didn’t you tell me you were married?”
Amy felt anger surge at his unfair accusation. “I did! Not that it makes a difference. You still have a girlfriend.”
“Leave Melissa out of this, Amy. I haven’t been with her in months.”
“Liar! You saw her last night.” Amy wanted to cry. Why did men always do this to her? Cheat and then lie to her face about it?
“I went to see her this morning. I was with you last night. Holding you as close as possible in my arms. All night.”
“Well you weren’t there when I woke up this morning and you ran straight into her arms from my bed. How do you think that makes me feel?”
“Your husband, Doctor?”
Amy felt sick to her stomach, and wanted this conversation over with. She couldn’t deal with this again so soon. “We’ve been separated for a year. We haven’t seen each other since the day I left. He’s had the divorce papers for nine months, already signed by me.”
“And him?”
Amy refused to look at him. “He hasn’t signed them yet. He decided he wants a second chance.”
“Will you give him what he wants?”
She heard the note of worry in his voice and ignored it.
“That, under the circumstances, is none of your business.”
“Oh yes it is, I don’t share my bed with married women.”
Her temper flared at his accusation and she set it free. “I don’t usually share my bed with men who go running off in the middle of the night either.”
“I didn’t run off in the middle of the night. I stayed holding you in my arms until the sun came up. I went to Melissa’s this morning to pick up the things I’d left behind. I wanted to make certain all my ties with her were permanently cut so we could move forward with our relationship. I had just walked through the door when Hank called.”
